What is it?

Het Vinne Provincial Domain, near Zoutleeuw, is a nature park wrapping around the largest inland lake in Flanders. The renovated farmhouse with playground is the perfect departure or arrival for walks, bicycling tours and nature observation.

  • The provincial domain is open year-round from sunrise to sunset.
  • The visitors centre is open from
    • 1 April to 30 september
      • Weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
      • Weekends, holidays and bridge days from 2 to 4 p.m.
    • 1 Oktober to 31 March
      • Weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
      • Sunday from 2 tot 4 p.m.
      • Saturday, holidays and bridge days and during the Christmas holiday period closed

Please note: it is not safe to visit the provincial domain during inclement weather.

Overnight stays

Bivouac shelter

You can camp (bivouac shelter) in Het Vinne on the north side of the lake.

  • There is room for a maximum of 3 tents sleeping a maximum of 3 people.
  • Only possible from 1 April to 30 September.
  • Maximum stay: 48 hours.
  • No reservations are possible.
  • Notify the concierge upon arrival by calling +32 (0)11 781 819 and state:
    • Number of tents.
    • Number of people.
    • Length of stay.
  • Pump with groundwater.
  • Fire pit.
  • Bury faeces and toilet paper at least 15-20 cm deep and 50 m away.
  • Leave the camp site like you found it.
