KU Leuven Research & Development (LRD)
KU Leuven Research & Development is the knowledge and technology transfer office (TTO) of Leuven University and associated research institutions. While Leuven University is the oldest (1425) and one of the most prestigious universities in the Low Counties, it also has the oldest (1972) and biggest technology transfer office on the European mainland. A TTO transfers knowledge and technology from scientists to industry and society. LRD was voted the best TTO in the world by IPTEC in 2008. It has created more than 100 university spin-off companies whose products, prototypes, patents and talents attract a multitude of large multinational companies to the region. As a consequence, it manages a large patent portfolio and has a solid track record in valorizing knowledge. You come into contact with technology valorized by LRD on a daily basis, from Samsonite suitcases to Uncle Ben's rice.
Technology Transfer Interface Brussels (VUB TTI)
Brussels Free University (VUB) has several campuses in the heart of the European Union capital of Brussels. Its research community is outspokenly international and its ideas are valorized through the VUB's Technology Transfer Interface. The VUB technology transfer office -the Technology Transfer Interface Brussels- facilitates the commercial application of promising technologies developed by elite researchers.
